“We have a pulse…” Said a cold metalic voice, followed by a binaric squirt.

She tried to open her eyes, but they were gummed shut!

All she could remember was pain and burning.

She couldn’t even remember her own name!

There was a big explosion, she had been torn apart…

Crawling through the burning desert.

Broken and burned, she crawled over the scorched sand.

Torn from half her body, she flew through the air, followed by the deafening rumble of the explosion as the promethium tower and all the surrounding land dissolved into a vast mushroom cloud! Even the ruined golden spire on the horizon caught fire! This day the desert had burned more than ever!

She had crawled over the coarse and hot sand for who knows how long… leaking vital fluids, oil and blood.

All alone…

She had been alone all her life, yet now she was more alone than ever…

They had been fighting a glorious battle, the Lost Boys and her! War in the Sun at its best. They had been climbing the tower, closing in on the prize, when disaster struck!

Suddenly the whole thing blew up in a titanic explosion…

She lost consiousness…

The world turned black and cold!

She was dying.

A jolt of pain!

Her whole body, or what was left of it spasmed violently…

She was lying on a hard, cold metalic surface…

“Put her in the tank” There was that metalic voice again.

She slipped back into unconsciousness.

And dreamt.

Someone found her mortal remains.

When she crawled in the sand, suddenly someone had poked her. That metalic voice had said something. What was being said eluded her, she had lost all her faculties, just like her legs….

She was dying.

She felt pain like never before! She was burning up! Voices whispered at her without any discernible words.

A warm wet tonque carressing her neck… Sending jolts of pain through her nervous system.

Screaming in the background.

1 2 3 4…

Screaming in the background!

Voices wispering without words.

A hot breath on her neck followed by that tonque again!

“Surrender!” came a wet sibilant whisper, The first understandable word she had heard for what felt like years!

“Surrender and you will not have to be alone ever again!”

And she woke up in complete darkness, trying to breathe, suffocating floating in some kind of gel like fluid. And she remembered her name!

She was Ilse the Vengeful, Scrap Queen of Tor Megiddo and she had lost her Lost Boys and she was all alone in the darkness.

Someone waches the destruction while his prize is being carried away for him…

You can find more about Tor MegiddoΒ here, I do recommend to follow the links back to the beginning if you are not familiar with the story.

In the mean time at a darkly overgrown nameless planet, Illona von Sturm read out the collected data from her observation servoskull.

“I must return at once and report this!” She thought with a pounding heart! “This is much worse than I thought” Dread stole over her as she ran for the landing craft, her K9 protector following closely at her heels! “I have to make it!” She thought as panic started to creep up on her…

Illona von Sturm makes a dreadful discovery

Poor Scrap Queen… What’s going to become of her, only the future knows…

Kind of morbidly I made a model showing her crawling broken through the desert after the explosion. I always imagined her as a tough old boot, that somehow managed to survive the blast in the end… barely. She would curl up somewhere to either lick her wounds or die.

If only she hadn’t been found. Now I am afraid she will meet a fate worse than death.

I made this new TM background piece, showing the desert shortly after the explosion, and the poor hurt Scrap Queen, in order to reference back into my earlier writings to resurrect the Void.

Visions of Hell: Desert Inferno

Illona von Stumpf is one of the many models I have made since last. I made her, her servoskull and K9 protector servitor as demomodels for a Blanchitsu Workshop I hosted in Copenhagen a couple of months ago. She is a bounty hunter who has got herself in trouble…

Thanks for reading!

    1. Thank you! That is nice to hear, makes it totally worth it. πŸ˜‰ It is great to be back, I have been totally missing this, but life and stuff kept me away for long enough that it became increasingly difficult to get started again. I am very happy to finally do this again. πŸ˜ƒ

  1. This is so good: Beautifully (and horrifically) realised!

We are about to return to Tor Megiddo, so the timing could not be more perfect.

    1. Thank you mate. It was kind of painful to write her story, but it was inside me and had to get out. It is to be continued in one or two more chapters… πŸ˜‰
Great to hear that you guys are playing TM once again, these campaigns of yours really flesh out the setting, making much more happen than our one big game. Fantastic to see how it has taken on a life of its own. 😎

Yeah, I completely agree – the place definitely has its own momentum now. I have a feeling this won will not be our last visit there as well!

  2. This is exactly the sort of thing I would love to see more of! With all the great narrative events happening in the inq28 world, i would love to see some of them elaborated on in story form. And your artwork and updated version of the Scrap Queen only make it better. Thanks for doing this.

    1. Thank you for your kind words. The storytelling has become perhaps the most important part of the hobby for me, it fuels the ideas for the miniatures, which in turn get to tell the story…πŸ˜‰ The games are a great springboard for the stories and a good reason to make the miniatures, so it grows naturally from there.

  3. So great to read you again! Superb minis and very inspiring storytelling as usual. Also a workshop held by you on how to paint like this makes me drool, how about us poor non-Danish people :Β΄(

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean a lot to me!
I would love to go abroad and teach painting and modelling workshops internationally. πŸ™‚ The difficulty is travel expences of course, so I would have to charge a lot more for a workshop in order to make it feasible. Someday hopefully. πŸ˜€
